CLASSROOM RULES AND CONSEQUENCES
- This class is based on a "hands-on" approach and all students MUST participate on a daily basis. Classroom activities make up a majority of the grading system. Therefore, daily attendance is critical to the successful completion of the course.
- In addition, your participation in rehearsals, sectionals, and performances outside of class are also required and are a part of the student's grade. Failure to participate in a performance due to negligence will result in a grade that is drastically lowered for the marking period.
- Reading music IS required. Upon total completion of this course, you will be able to read and write music.
- Each student is required to maintain the assigned uniform for their respective sections. Some uniform fees/costs will be required and each student will be responsible for the purchase of such as stated by the director. Such items required are (but mot limited to) as follows - BROs (Jungle Boots), spats, gloves, mouthpieces, and mallots. Additional items may also be required. See "Marching Band Attire - 101" page for more details and where you can find your gear.
- Course work will be taken from the following textbook: Standard of Excellence Band Methods 1-3 Unisonal Scales
- All students must bring a folder, paper, and pencil to class. Each student will be issued a folder for music storage.
- Each student is expected to be present with the bell rings. If you are late, you will be marked as such and you will have a five (5) minute holding station on the wall. DO NOT attempt to justify your situation during class. If you are late, you're late.
